Students begin by studying color theory and color scale. Color theory is very important because it teaches students not only how to blend colors to create shades and hues but also the meaning of colors and their effect. At the beginner level the focus is on teaching students basic drawing and painting concepts such as composition, dimension, perspective, shading and more. After acquiring this fundamental knowledge, students in the intermediate level begin to work with more advanced artistic tools and mediums. With careful guidance and teaching and through their own experimentation, students begin to apply their fundamental knowledge in order to create a variety of art work such as Still Lifes from real objects, Landscape Paintings from photographs, Conceptual Art, Abstract Painting and more. The collected experience of all their work from the intermediate level gives students the skills and tools to work at the advanced level. Here the focus shifts to individual self-expression and the development of the student's personal style and talent. Now, students are able to combine a variety of mediums and techniques within one artwork in order to more fully express their idea. Their experience gives them the freedom to create artwork that is not only visually impressive but also carries more profound meanings and messages.
Adult classes allow those students who already have previous experience in drawing and painting to begin at a level that is compatible with their skills. The school program can be customized in order to accommodate student's needs and interests. For example, students who wish to work exclusively with a particular medium such as watercolor, acrylic, oil or others will be taught how to work only in that medium. Those who want to focus on only one subject such as Landscape Painting, Still Life Painting, Botanical Art and others, will have the opportunity to receive instructions on how to begin and successfully complete their artwork.
